At Wells, Nevada, Eddie Harris, Frankie Chardo, Commando Munson, Skeets Jonas and Roly Adams, rob a government train transporting $10,000,000 in gold to the San Francisco depository. The loot is divided three ways and put onto trucks for hauling to a Los Angeles hideout. Roly is stopped first by a police road-block and is killed by state troopers when he tries to run the blockade with his furniture truck. Eddie and Frankie, following in a gas truck are stopped but released because the tank is sealed. After murdering the attendant, Ernie Beach, at a gas station, Skeets and Commando are caught at a truck-weighing station, and the discrepancy between the weight of the coffee they are supposed to be hauling and the heaviness ! of the gold tips off the policemen. At a trucker's caf�, Eddie! and Fra nkie hear a news cast about their pals being captured or killed, but they successfully get through the road blocks as Eddie has filled their truck with acetate. In Los Angeles, Eddie calls his sweetheart, Fran Werner, and she meets them at a warehouse where they melt the gold and cast it into hub caps and bumpers on a new Cadillac.
